22A - Elevator Pitch No. 3

2.  The feedback I got that was important was how my past elevator pitches didn't have anything to do with my idea that I've been using the whole semester. The most surprising feedback I got was that I had more energy than the first one which I think was the opposite. The feedback that was insightful was that they said the climate I do my elevator pitches is means a lot s well as saying i need to have more than the upper half of my body shown.

3. I changed the topic of my elevator pitch so that it talks about the venture idea I've been talking about in other exercises instead of on a different idea. My pitch isn't as memorized or a better pitch because I've had to make a new one. However I feel more comfortable in front of the camera though.

21A - Reading Reflection No. 2

Book: "Innovation and Entrepreneurship" by Peter F. Drucker

1. The theme of the book was that it presented innovation and entrepreneurship as a systematic discipline that explains and analyzes the challenges and opportunities of America's new entrepreneurial economy.

2. In my opinion it connected and enhanced what I'm learning in ENT 3003 as it provides me with more entrepreneurial strategies and provides real world examples of all the strategies and concepts that it talked about in the book.

3.I would design an exercise based on creative imitation and the exercise what have people attempt to find business just like the ventures they came up with and have them try to improve the already made product and try to find a new market for it while incorporating it into their business.

4. My biggest surprise is how Japan took American products and performed creative imitation to improve the products and take over the markets from the starting companies. I didn't know some companies just refuse to see other markets and by having products at high prices makes them vulnerable for other companies to come in and take over the market.

  • Background: Janet Florence, works for Tesla.
  • How they fit the slot: Knows how the car works especially with their autopilot feature.
  • How you found the person: I went on Linkedin and found her on there and contacted her through that.
  • Nature of Exchange: I told her about my idea and she thought it was good and told me what she could about how Tesla's autopilot works with the sensors.
  • How will including this person enhance your ability to exploit an opportunity: Having someone familiar with around the same technology would help me when i try to figure it out making it so it could work with any car.

Market Expert:

  • Background: Chris Shaw, blogger.
  • How they fit the slot: He has written a lot on Tesla and how their car is innovate and how it works.
  • How you found the person: I found him on a random blog on google who talks about innovative technology and i contacted him by emailing him..
  • Nature of Exchange:  We talked about my idea and how we both thought it could work both technically and business wise how to market it.
  • How will including this person enhance your ability to exploit an opportunity: As an expert on new innovate technology, he would be helpful of thinking of ways to implement the technology and ways to make it work or to improve it even more.
Industry Supplier:

  • Background: David M., Car technician.
  • How they fit the slot: As he works at a mechanic shop they often have to order parts for the cars and work with them and know the insides and outs of them.
  • Description: Found him on Linkedin and contacted him through there.
  • Nature of Exchange: I was talking to him about my idea and was talking to him about how we would be able to set up the sensors and the software in new cars and how it could work technically with the car.
  • How will including this person enhance your ability to exploit an opportunity: He would be helpful as he knows the insides and outsides of a car he would be useful in helping us know figure out how to integrate the sensors and everything into the car since he knows the anatomy and how a car works.
Reflection: This experience will shape how I participate in any future networking events because I now realize it's more helpful to have experts who already know the industry then having to learn everything on your own since they would know more than the average person. It differs from my past since I haven't done networking at all so it shows me how to do it .

19A- Idea Napkin No. 2

1. You :
·
I'm a  freshman at UF as a mechanical engineering major. I'm skilled in talking to people and I can pick up new things pretty quickly when it comes to technical things. I have experience on my own just making whatever comes to mind and plenty of experience talking to people about anything. My aspirations are to just do whatever I want such as turning my ideas into reality. If I were to start my concept as a business,  it would take a lot of my time especially since I’ll be passionate about it and so invested that I'll make sure it gets to where it needs to be.
2. What are you offering to customers? :
·        I'm offering car companies a product that could be incorporated into their cars to help reduce the number of fatalities due to car crashes. The product would be sensors that would be able to integrate into the car and a centralized software and language that car companies would use to put in their cars as to raise the safety of the people while having a common language for the cars to communicate with so different brands can communicate with each other. The sensors would be able to recognize the other cars and with the software and a network to allow the car to respond to their surroundings while communicating with surrounding cars so the cars avoid it collectively and safely without causing more crashes.  I'm customers that buy cars to have the ability to have their chance of crashing lowered as the car would be able to react with other cars due to an accident of whatever cause. Using technology will make the car companies have a better reputation for having a safer car than people who won't use the technology. It'll be better than the individual sensors on a car that stops when they are about to crash as they can be faulty and stop in the middle of the traffic due to different factors affecting the sensor.
3.  Who are you offering it to? :
·        I'm offering it to car companies who want to make their cars to compete with Tesla and their autonomous driving features. Instead of the cars driving we still have people driving but the cars can react with other cars as a group instead of an individual car.
4. Why do they care? :
·        Instead of having to figure out how to make the technology themselves they can buy it through licensing and implement it into their cars. As a result, the car companies that use it will be able to have their cars communicate with other companies car to make it much safer for people driving on the road. If they did it on their own then only the company's cars would be able to communicate with only that company and not another company's car. With marketing to other brands, as the first brands use it the rest might follow with a domino effect. As a way to prove it's usefulness might be able to put the product onto go-karts and see how the go-karts react in a normal race to prove it's effectiveness.
5. What are your core competencies? :
·        What sets me apart is that since I'll only be making the technology and not the cars I can have it implement in any brand of car that chooses to buy it and have the technology become more effective than only to have one brand utilize it and have it only work with that brand of cars.

I believe there are some aspects of my business concept that are weaker with the others. My business plan relies that on other companies buy the technology from me through licensing but if they decide not to license then my concept will not be profitable. I would also have to figure out how to make the technology safe so it won't cause accidents due to failures or other factors that can affect it and cause crashes.

Feedback: One of the main points I took away from the feedback was to put more detail into describing what my product is so I made sure to describe the product more in detail and describe how it would work. The second thing I took away is that networking and communication is an important aspect of creating a business so I made sure in the "Why do they care?" section to put how we would communicate how it works and it's effectiveness and how we would network it with car brands.

18A - Create a Customer Avatar

My pro typical customer would be someone who is a techie that loves new technology and buys all the latest new tech. They drive a Tesla due to it's autopilot features and its electric car capabilities. The color of the car is prob white to make it look modern. They definitely watch Shark Tank  in order to find new things on the market and a bunch of science fiction shows or movies especially sci-fi. They read a lot technology magazines and websites to keep up with the latest things. They're probably in their late 20's or middle aged with possibly kids. They feel young as they are very well versed in technology.

What I have in common with the customer avatar is that I like technology as well since i think it's cool to see what new technology comes out and what it can do and all that. It's not a coincidence that I have that in common since I've always been fascinated by technology especially in sci-fi movies like star wars.

17A- Elevator Pitch No. 2

Reflection: The feedback I got was good from the first pitch with the pacing of my words and the spacing of them, as well as my hand movements. The hand movements were habit by me but everything else I thought was useful because I used the techniques from the lectures to do my pitch. The other feedback I got that was useful was to get the camera to get more of my posture and to not pace back and forth. I thought those were useful especially the pacing because it is a habit of mine when presenting so I made sure to fix it.

Changes: I made sure to stop pacing so I would look more professional and I made sure the camera captured more of my posture.

Reflection:
I think how I see my myself and how others do is very similar as i believe they got an accurate representation of me especially my mom being since she raised me so she would best know me. I wouldn't make an corrections to the list.
